1. Research Science Institute (RSI)

The Research Science Institute (RSI) at MIT is one of the most prestigious research programs in the world, with a rigorous selection process that admits around 100 students from thousands of applicants. Hosted by MIT and CEE, it pairs students with leading scientists for intensive research projects, mostly at MIT and Harvard, and ends with the RSI Final Symposium, where students present their findings.

RSI is a transformative experience for the next generation of scientific leaders, offering advanced research and lasting connections with peers and distinguished mentors. Its alumni continue to make major contributions to science and technology.

3. Summer Science Program (SSP)

Program dates: roughly late June to early August. Eligibility: high school juniors who are at least 16.

6. University of Chicago Summer Session

UChicago’s “Physics Research Experience for High Schoolers” introduces students to experimental physics.
